Six Senses Laamu is an idyllic palm-fringed paradise, which places tourists as its top priority and thrives to provide an unforgettable experience for them. This luxury resort also has an award-winning marine conservation initiative based at the resort itself, as a guiding light for the sustainability and conservation measures at the resort.
Whilst the resort has been temporarily closed, the Organic Garden team at Six Senses Laamu has been busy redesigning the Organic Garden to create experiences that would educate, inspire and ‘wow’ guests and in time for August 1st reopening, a beautiful garden had been developed with more than 40 different herbs, micro-herbs and salads in the organic garden with guests entitled to a Back of House Tours.
Every day the resorts chefs collect fresh ingredients for their dishes and spa therapists collect lemongrass and mint for their herbal ice tea. This organic garden will also be used for the supply of fresh ingredients to Leaf, Six Senses Laamu resort’s, perched right above the organic garden, to source the freshest and finest local ingredients for the resort’s inventive dishes.
Two highlights of the Back-of-House tours include the banana garden and raised beds. The team decided to prioritize banana plants due to its long-life expectancy and ease of growth. Inevitably, within a few weeks after planting, banana blossoms were seen.
The team has built a total number of 14 raised beds which will be used for planting herbs. Gardening can come with many challenges such as roots from other tress getting in the way or back pain from regular weed cleaning. Raising the beds above the ground make the roots grow unobstructed and makes it easy for gardeners.
Tourists definitely do not want to miss out on this organic garden as it is a one-of-a-kind experience that they will get during their stay in the sunny side of life.
