Last Friday saw the welcome of LOT Polish Airlines with a ceremonial water salute at the Velana International Airport. Touching down with a total of 294 passengers directly from Warsaw, this welcome opens new gateways for guests arriving to the Maldives from Central Europe with the establishment of direct flights between the two destinations since the Maldivian border reopening in July 2020.
LOT is the flag career of Poland and one of the oldest airlines in operations in the world. Connecting Maldives with Poland, it has announced four more chartered flights to operate by the end of March. In collaboration with Sun Ocean Maldives, the airline has planned to transport over 1000 travelers to the sunny side of life.
The Maldives is irresistible to Polish celebrities already, and if demand remains high as estimated, LOT Polish Airlines will continue chartered flights through 2022, according to Sun Ocean Maldives’ Director of Sales, Rasheed Abdulla.
A record high, 159,126 tourists have visited the Maldives as of February 20 this year. The Maldives targets an ambitious annual arrival of 1.5 million by the end of the year. With new direct connections being setup, hope remains high in catering to wishes coming true in the safe haven of The world’s Leading Destination, Maldives.
