Art is not something you look at with your eyes, it is something that you feel with your soul. A masterpiece will make you have feelings you did not know you could have.
And to show you just that, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa is going to host their first-ever art week, featuring Maldivian artists who are talented and at the top of their field.
The week will begin on the 14th and end of the 20th, and guests will be able to immerse themselves in exceptional art and design, participate in daily activities such as painting to unleash their creativity, and even try nail art. All of this will be available for guests who are on the all-inclusive package.
Starting off with Shimanie Shareef, she is a multi-disciplinary artist and Art Teacher in her early thirties. She practices mainly with traditional and digital forms of art and illustrations.
She is trained in Adaptive Arts (as an art teacher for people with disabilities and neurodiversities), and her goal is to make art even more accessible and inclusive to everyone.
Her art is heavily influenced by Maldivian folklores, history, color, and nature. Colour and pattern are also integral to her art where she enjoys using a bright but considered palette for most of her illustrations.
Come and join Shimanie in some of the activities she´ll be doing during the art week:
– Art therapy for adults & kids
– Seascapes painting
– Botanical painting
Rooba, someone who has made her art her entire life as it felt like it was on her soul to be a creator has evolved over many styles of art in her career. She tried many 9 to 5 jobs, and by ignoring the voices that said she wouldn't make it as an artist, she was finally able to do what felt right to her.
Her approach to inventing styles is systematic. At first, she finds inspiration from other artists and then implements their style merged with her own. She practices one style for some time and refines it until she finds another art style to practice and refines again.
In the process, she likes to learn new techniques at different art courses, and combining different variations is how she likes to experiment. This can mean different mediums like acrylic paint, pencil, ink, digital painting to different themes like fantasy, dark art, artistic nudes, landscapes, and more.
Her passion and talents took her to London, where some of her paintings were displayed at the London Bomber Gallery along with other international artists.
Come and join Rooba in some of the following activities:
– Abstract painting
– Landscape painting
– Intuitive painting (kids only)
Ever since he was young, Lujain has been fond of art, and in 2019, he started his journey in mixed media.
As a nail artist, his projects contain thousands of screws, which are later painted in Oil color. His passion for this kind of art, dedication, and patience are combined with one of the most iconic parts of the Maldives, the marine life.
One of his most iconic projects, The Survaival, has the aim to create awareness for the delicate beauty of our marine life and that we all are equally responsible to create a safe environment to protect them. Let’s all appreciate and protect these beautiful and gentle creatures. The project contains approximately 7000 screws that are hand-painted.
Lujain will be participating in some activities and live demonstrations of his art during the art week.
