Last week, the World’s Best Airline and the flagship carrier of Serbia announced the signing of a comprehensive codeshare agreement, connecting passengers to over 40 destinations on each other’s network. The codes will be shared starting from 1st February 2023 and opens up new locations for travellers to embark on their journey.
Currently, Qatar Airways operates five weekly flights between its hub in Doha, Qatar and Belgrade, the Serbian capital. Under this agreement, a suite of other new destinations will be available for passengers to travel to by using a single booking. This includes unique European countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia and many more destinations in the Air Serbia global network.
Speaking on the codeshare agreement, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “This partnership will allow us to expand our footprint in the Central and Eastern European markets where we are looking forward to offering additional travel choices for our customers. We are extremely proud to unveil this partnership with Air Serbia, the leading airline in this region since it was founded in 1927 and we look forward to working effortlessly together.”
Air Serbia operates from its hub at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and flies to more than 70 destinations in Europe, the Mediterranean, North America, Asia and Africa. As per this collaboration, Air Serbia will be putting its marketing code on Qatar Airways’ Belgrade-Doha route as well as key points beyond Doha. This includes destinations in East Asia, South East Asia, Africa and Australia.
Some of the featured points beyond Doha include Adelaide, Baku, Brisbane, Tbilisi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hongkong, Melbourne, Muscat, Nairobi, Perth, Seychelles, Singapore and Sydney. Moreover, with approvals from government authorities and necessary conditions, the Air Serbia network will expand its coverage to Bangkok, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Phuket, Seoul, Tokyo, Yerevan, Zanzibar and other popular destinations.
Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, Jiří Marek, said: “It is our great pleasure to announce the codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways, known for its global network of destinations and premium service. Through this cooperation, we believe that we will be able to jointly bring to Serbia more traffic and opportunities for trade and tourism, as well as to increase the traffic between the two hubs.”
