Qatar Airways Increases Flights to World-Famous Island, Mykonos, Greece

Sunday 12th of June 2022

With the launch of its new service to Santorini (JTR) and the resumption of flights to Mykonos as the holiday season approaches, Qatar Airways is making it easier for customers to enjoy the Greek Islands (JMK).

The first flight from Doha to Santorini took place on Tuesday, June 7th, and was operated by an A320 aircraft with 12 Business Class seats and 132 Economy Class seats. Senior executives from Fraport Greece greeted the aircraft as it landed for the first time at Santorini International Airport.

The airline commemorated the occasion by developing a custom in-flight menu inspired by traditional Greek cuisine, complete with specially decorated cutlery bands for all passengers and an illustrated menu card for Business Class passengers.

To commemorate the occasion, passengers were also given celebratory cupcakes. In honor of the first flight to Santorini, Qatari Captain Abdulaziz Al Kaabi and Greek Captain Andrew Evlambides flew the inaugural flight from Doha. The island destination joins Athens and Mykonos as the third Greek gateway served by Qatar Airways, the country's national carrier.

“The Greek Isles are a leading tourist destination and an important market for Qatar Airways. There is high interest from across our network for flights to Santorini, specifically in the leisure segment. We are committed to offering our passengers as many seamless one-stop connection choices as possible. I am sure visitors from the Middle East, Asia, Australia and the Americas will be pleased to have Santorini served by our airline.” Expressing his gratitude is Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Mr. Akbar Al Baker.
