Ram Appointed General Manager of Rah Gili Maldives

Saturday 23rd of August 2025

SIX & SIX Private Islands has announced the appointment of Ram as General Manager of Rah Gili Maldives, the debut property in its new collection of lifestyle led private islands. Opening in early 2026, Rah Gili Maldives represents a new direction for resort design, defined by rhythm, narrative and emotional tone. Ram’s appointment signals the move from concept to experience, with his leadership shaping the resort from pre opening and beyond.

With more than two decades of experience in hospitality across Mauritius and the Maldives, Ram brings together operational expertise and cultural awareness. His career has included managing complex resort environments and leading diverse teams from multiple nationalities. At Rah Gili he will not only oversee the launch but also create the operational foundation for a brand that emphasises subtlety, presence and emotional clarity.

“Being first matters,” Ram says. “This isn’t just about preparing to open. It’s about building a tone that resonates long after the first guest arrives. My focus is on creating a culture where service feels natural, energy is grounded, and the experience lives beyond the moment.”

His leadership is built around two guiding ideas: the Power of NOW and the Magic of YES. The first is about urgency, staying present and ready to act. The second is about creating possibility and encouraging a culture where ideas are welcomed with openness and action.

Ram’s approach is visible in his daily routine. Each morning begins with him walking the island, not to inspect but to connect. He values sensing the energy of the day and engaging naturally with his team. “You learn more from walking a space than you do from a report,” he explains. “You feel what’s working and what isn’t. That kind of visibility and presence shapes everything.”

In previous roles Ram successfully united talent from more than twenty different cultural backgrounds. His method focused on listening, creating systems that allowed authentic contribution while aligning with the overall tone of the resort. “Unity is not a by-product of systems,” he notes. “It’s the result of intentional culture—something you model, not enforce.”

This philosophy will be central at Rah Gili Maldives, a resort designed to appeal to guests who value atmosphere, rhythm and emotional nuance as much as aesthetics. Elements such as ambient soundscapes, scent rituals, guest experiences and service flows will be carefully aligned to create resonance and reflection. Ram will work with his leadership team to ensure that these concepts are embedded in daily operations and guest experiences. While the brand manages strategic direction for finance, commercial and marketing, Ram’s responsibility lies in maintaining team culture, cross functional collaboration and guest facing consistency.

“Each island in the collection will have its own personality,” Ram adds. “But what connects us is the ability to deliver emotion with clarity. RAH GILI will be the first to show what that looks like in practice.”

Marc Gussing, Director of Operations at SIX & SIX Private Islands, comments, “Ram brings the kind of presence that doesn’t demand attention but still sets the tone. He has an instinct for emotional leadership how to carry the brand’s deeper tone through systems, people, and detail. At RAH GILI, we’re not just delivering luxury. We are delivering emotional connectivity.”

Outside of work, Ram stays grounded through rituals that reflect his balanced approach to leadership. Football keeps him connected to rhythm and movement, tennis sharpens his focus, and visits to Mauritius, where his career began, help him maintain perspective.

When asked to describe his leadership style, he replies, “Polished driftwood. Shaped by time, smoothed by challenge. Solid, yes but also fluid. Leadership should hold shape without needing to harden.”

Rah Gili Maldives is scheduled to open in early 2026 as the flagship of the SIX & SIX Private Islands brand. Ram’s appointment marks the beginning of its journey into daily life, where tone and energy move from vision to reality and shape the experience for every guest.
