Risking their lives for the people of their country, Maldives Police Service continues to show an unshakable commitment towards the safety of Maldives during the coronavirus pandemic. As the country goes into distress after the very first local case was confirmed in the Capital City of Male on 15th April, the services and effort by Maldives police has doubled.
The Maldives, currently in 24 hours lockdown following the confirmed positive case, is fighting to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the community. During the 24 hours, any person who disobeys the rules of the lockdown will be fined and if necessary, sent for quarantine as well. “The purpose of this isn’t to fine the people, but it’s for the safety of the community,” says Maldives Police.
During the lockdown, it has been informed that the police officers in Maafannu distributed food arranged by the government, to the homeless people on the streets and their temporary accommodation has also been arranged by the state. Police officers found and rescued a total of 24 homeless people and taken them to their temporary accommodation last night.
