Saudi Arabia’s Flynas Commences Direct Flights To The Maldives

Tuesday 20th of June 2023

Saudi Arabia’s low-cost carrier and budget airline, Flynas made its debut in the Maldivian sky today with its inaugural flight XY393 landing at Velana International Airport during the morning hours. The carrier was welcomed warmly to the sunny isles with a water salute given to the first flight on its successful arrival. Flynas began flying to the Maldives as part of the airline’s commitment to expand its global network during the 2023 summer season.

The carrier launched four new destinations from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, including the Maldives, Yerevan in Armenia, Antalya in Turkey and Tivat in Montenegro. The Maldivian route will feature between Riyadh and Velana International Airport with three weekly frequencies operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The commencement of direct scheduled flights between Saudi Arabia and the Maldives will boost connectivity between the two destinations, allowing travellers to take advantage of the increased connection. With the Saudi Arabian market gradually becoming a prominent and promising one for the Maldives, the beginning of direct operations is expected to increase arrival numbers from the country in the future, especially with the upcoming Eid Al-Adha holidays.

Under its global expansion efforts, Flynas will also be launching new routes to six destinations in Asia. This includes four from Dammam to Salalah in Oman, Istanbul and Trabzon in Turkey and Tirana in Albania. Two additional routes will be launched from Jeddah to Salalah and Bodrum in Turkey as well.

Moreover, increasing its presence in the European region, Flynas will be resuming operations to its summer destinations such as Prague in the Czech Republic, Vienna and Salzburg in Austria, Baku in Azerbaijan, Tbilisi and Batumi in Georgia, and Saravejo in Bosnia. Likewise, flights will also be operated to Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt for the summer season.
