Steady Increase in Passenger Traffic at Velana Airport Since July 15

The Maldives closed itself for international tourists since the very first COVID-19 outbreak and now, with the reopening of the borders as of July 15th, and every resort in the Maldives, firing up tons of promotions to encourage guests to visit the Maldives, the number of tourists in the Maldives have shown a significant boost from July to August. 

Velana Airport has recently released some statistics that show a comparison between the number of tourists that arrived in July and the number of tourists that arrived in August. And, Maldives is much delighted as the passenger traffic shows an inevitable increase.

From 15th July to 31st July, the passenger traffic performance are as follows. The number of international arrivals as recorded on the month of July was 2890, whilst the month of August received a dashing number of 11,186 tourists. The number of domestic arrivals as recorded on the month of July was 1954, whilst the month of August recorded 3282 tourists.

And as for departures, the number of international departures recorded on July was 4106 and on the month of August, a straight-up spike of 14,045 departures. As for domestic departures, the number of departures on July were 2555 and on August, a record of 3438 tourists.

The Air traffic Movement as of July was 196 and on August, 432 for international flights. And for domestic flights, the air traffic movement as of July was recorded to be 191 whilst for August, a record of 326 tourists.With these significant increases, Maldives is hopeful to get more and more visitors in the upcoming months and a series of initiatives are already underway to encourage guests to visit the sunny side of life.
