Authentic Maldivian traditions and prayers led by Resort Imam Hussein Nazeer mark the Eid Al Fitr celebrations at VARU By Atmosphere. VARU, meaning strength, resilience, and abundance in the native language of Dhivehi, wholeheartedly embraces the local way of life. There is a palpable cultural connection and sense of family among the teams working and living at VARU island.
Hussein completed the Imam Training Programme for Resort Staff organized by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. He received the certificate on 8 December 2021.
The daily prayer (Salāt), the Friday prayer (Jumah), and other congregational and non-congregational prayers at the resort mosque are all guided by Hussein. During the month of Ramadan, he invites colleagues to gather for games and conversation before breaking their fast.
Hussein shares his festive blessings, “My warmest wishes on the occasion of Eid al Fitr to everyone from VARU by Atmosphere, Maldives. May Allah accept your good deeds, forgive your transgressions, and ease the suffering of all people around the Globe. Eid Mubarak.”
Leading worship at the Mosque is a calling for Hussein. His brother is a respected Imam and Hafiz, and this deep faith is a family tradition. With shining eyes and a bright, heartfelt smile, Hussein says an Imam is a role model for others. It is this faith that drives his passion to excel at work and makes even the busiest days feel light.
It is important to have a planned approach to work and life, believes Hussein. Having each day mapped out, helps him to balance his responsibilities as the Imam with the highly demanding job of Assistant Executive Housekeeper. Even a simple gesture like placing a beautiful-folded towel art on the sun lounger needs thought and preparation. There is no success without a plan.
A Maldivian national, Hussein Nazeer started his journey in the tourism industry in 2004 as a Villa Attendant at One & Only Reethi Rah Resort. Since then, Nazeer has moved on to hold various roles and responsibilities at leading international resorts. He joined VARU By Atmosphere in 2019 as the Deputy Executive Housekeeper and has been promoted to Assistant Executive Housekeeper.
Philippe Claverotte, the General Magner of VARU By Atmosphere, says “We are very proud of Hussein Nazeer’s achievements. His cheerful demeanor, calm personality, and passion shine through, winning the hearts of everyone around him. This approach is a living testimony to our core values of being Emotionally Sincere, Intelligently Simple, Intuitively Innovative, and Honestly Different.”
