While not much is known about these two events, as it is still months away, the Ministry of Tourism has announced its plans to hold a dive event along with a photo competition as part of this year's celebrations.
This year is a very special year for the Maldivian tourism industry as it marks 50 years, the golden jubilee since the industry began. As such, many events are ongoing and have been planned for it.
These two events are in collaboration with Ocean Geographic and Maldives Alliance for Dive Operators.
During a press conference held at the Tourism Ministry this Sunday, the Director of Ocean Geographic said that the event will involve 50 dive points simultaneously. It is currently scheduled from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm on the 29th of September.
The photo contest will take place during the dive, and is free of charge for Maldivian photographers while foreign photographers will have to pay a charge of USD 10 for entrance.
From the pictures taken during the event, the best 150 pictures will be showcased during an exhibition next year.
The panel that will decide the pictures for the showcase will include both local and foreign experts.
More updates about the event will come as the date gets nearer so don't forget to follow us on our socials to learn more, in the best way!
