Vakkaru Maldives is set to host a tennis extravaganza as former World No.1 men’s doubles player, Mate Pavic, returns to the luxurious island paradise. From November 9th to 11th, guests at the resort will have the unique opportunity to engage in an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime tennis experience with the Croatian tennis sensation.
Pavic, renowned for his exceptional talent on the court, boasts an impressive record of six Grand Slam championships. His victories include the 2018 Australian Open and the 2020 US Open. In 2021, he clinched the doubles title at Wimbledon Championships and secured an Olympic gold medal with partner Nikola Mektić. Adding to his recent successes, Pavic triumphed in the mixed doubles category at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships alongside Lyudmyla Kichenok.
During November 9th and 10th, Pavic will conduct one exclusive tennis clinic each day, offering a select few guests the rare chance to learn and play alongside a tennis legend. On November 11th, he will face off against the resort’s resident coach, Miha Plesnik, in an exhibition match.
This partnership marks Mate Pavic's second collaboration with Vakkaru, solidifying the resort's status as one of the prime destinations in the Maldives for top-tier tennis experiences. Since 2020, Vakkaru has taken its guest experiences to new heights with an intensive tennis program in association with Tipsarevic Luxury Tennis, founded by former World No. 8 player Janko Tipsarevic. The resort's cobalt-blue courts have recently undergone refurbishment and resurfacing, following the standards set by the Australian Open and other world-class courts.
