In an effort to show the immense respect and heartfelt gratitude to all the selfless healthcare workers, working around the clock to help people battling against COVID-19, Baros Maldives has created a permanent tribute out of regenerated coral.
Corals were transplanted on frames in the island’s lagoons to spell out the words “Thank you Heroes”, making it a memorable and ever-lasting figurine that can be viewed from the resort’s lighthouse restaurant and epitomizes the respect that the resort has for frontline workers around the globe.
The resort manager of Baros, Ibrahim Shijah, said that despite the unprecedented times the world has faced, Baros hopes to keep the positive consequences of the pandemic, such as compassion, unity and kindness, remembered by this tribute.
The coral regeneration project of Baros Maldives first started when the resort entered closure earlier this year, due to the pandemic, but is now flourishing, much to the resort’s delight.
The resort’s resident marine biologists have collected fragments of living coral from the sea bed that had fallen apart from the reefs surrounding the island. Without this transplantation process, these broken pieces would not have been able to survive.
This tribute to health care workers also contributes to the resort’s sustainability efforts, as it forms new habitats for fish and other marine animals in the ocean. Baros Maldives is also giving healthcare workers, the very much deserved break that they need, with an exclusive package just for them, packed up with extra benefits.
The brave heroes are entitled to a complimentary couple’s massage at the island’s Serenity Spa, a private dinner for two on the beach, champagne upon arrival, and a choice of a free scheduled excursion, all valid until December 22, 2021.
