The Future Is Looking Brighter for Holiday Inn Kandooma

There is another side to Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, apart from providing gorgeous views and breathtaking experiences. Holiday Inn Kandooma is very conscious about protecting its environment.

As an effort to minimize the impact on the environment and continue seeking more sustainable energy sources, an all-new solar power energy system has been set up at the resort.

The solar power energy system was first installed in September 2020 and the photovoltaic system consists of a total of 596 panels covering an area of 1,283 square meters on 5 roofs in the resort’s Heart of House area. This makes it equivalent to covering up of almost 7 tennis courts.

These new solar panels help by producing a total solar output of 306,601 kWh annually (840 kWh daily). In simple terms, this means that the resort has equipped enough energy to power all of its guest villas for 32 days in a year, or enough to fully charge a laptop more than 4 million times annually. Fun fact – this means that this new installation would allow 11,000 full laptop charges in a day.

The installation brings about a lot of savings for the resort as well. Annually, the PV system saves over 81,000 litres of diesel for the resort. If it is ever on your bucket list to travel around the world 25 times, then this amount of diesel will be quite right for you.

The solar power energy system also decreases the environmental impact as it reduces 215 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year which is the same amount captured by growing 9,360 trees in a year, or 26 trees daily.

And the best part is if you want to find out how much you are contributing to the environment, by being under Holiday Inn Kandooma’s Heart of House, or just find out how much they have saved on a day, you can always check their live feed that shows their daily savings.
