Visit Maldives, together with 69 industry partners representing 37 tourism establishments across various sectors of the Maldivian tourism industry are attending the Arabian Travel Market 2021 event being held at the Dubai World Trade Center from May 16 – 19, 2021.

ATM is the largest travel and tourism event held targeting the Middle Eastern market. A significantly important market to the Maldives historically, the Middle East remains in focus as a promising source market. Key strategies have been used in various destination marketing campaigns held in the market in order to increase brand visibility of Maldives and to showcase it as a safe haven for travelers. These include fam trips, and two ongoing marketing campaigns for the Middle Eastern region with Wego and Sky News Arabia.

Marking the first major in-person event being held for the Arabian market, the Hybrid event will follow up with 1-1 video meetings taking place from May 24 – 26, 2021. ATM 2021 is an important opportunity for the global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business through a series of on-stand meetings, interactive displays, seminars, panel discussions, networking sessions and more.

The Maldives’ stand displays tourism products and unique experiences, authentic to the Maldivian experience of a holiday. The 420 Sqm stand designed specially to represent the beauty and wonders of Maldives through colourful imagery, videography and state of the art 360-degree touchless experiences for the visitors.

Reception counters and designated business meeting areas are specialized for B2B meetings and information exchange during the event. In line with the strict health and safety guidelines, the stand will only accommodate limited personnel at any given time, in addition to regular sanitization of its surfaces. Visit Maldives also participated at media interviews and panel discussions at the global stage during ATM.

During the course of the event, Visit Maldives has planned a press conference and roadshow in Dubai to be held today.

Middle East is one of the most conveniently connected markets to the Maldives at the moment, proving to be consistent with its growth since post lockdown. In 2020, over 26,000 tourist arrivals were noted from the region, whilst as of May 12 this year, 7,729 visitors have been recorded. With mass vaccination drives, easing of travel restrictions and direct flight connectivity, the Middle East is a key source market.
