Following the first local positive coronavirus case in the Maldives on 15th April, the country gets the unfortunate news of two additional positive local cases and goes into an additional 24 hours lockdown. During these scary times, the whole nation screams one thing- Stay home, stay safe and save lives.
According to Health Protection Agency’s latest updates on the situation, there have been 2 new confirmed cases within the last 24 hours. This totals to 28 confirmed cases, out of which 8 are locals and 15 are foreigners. As 16 have been recovered, total active cases in the country remain 5 and out of country is 2 as of now. 985 people are in quarantine and 31 people in isolation.
The 2nd person to be tested positive from the Capital City of Male was a direct contact of the first positive local case, and the toddler is informed to be in an isolation facility. The 3rd confirmed case is also a direct contact of the first one, according to HPA. This was the 8th Maldivian tested positive for coronavirus.
HPA reveals a list of households that have been placed under monitoring following the contact tracing procedures of the first case: Hulhumalé Lot 11090, H. Raikuredhi Aaru, M. Feeroazge 6B, M. Loakashi 3C, M. Sosun Maage, H. Fenigelidhaage 7 Floor, Hulhumalé Flat, 6-2-02, Ameen Avenue Teak 905, M. Naagooshuvillaa 2nd Floor, Hulhumale Lot no: 11296 and Ma. Orchid.
