The Ritz Carlton Maldives Is an Architectural Masterpiece… it’s Maldives Reimagined

If there’s one thing we all look forward to in 2021, it’s the arrival of Ritz Carlton legacy to the Maldives. The launch of this piece of paradise is opening doors to a unique island life surrounded by an azure lagoon brightened by white beaches. The soon-to-be-opened luxury property on the Fari Islands has made it to the big headlines several times for various reasons, but there’s one feature that hasn’t been highlighted enough.

Kerry Hill was an Australian architect who specialized in hotel design in tropical Asia. The highly talented architect, who passed away in 2018, is the one who deserves the applause for bringing the resort to life through architecture, design and philosophy. Kerry Hill Architects had reimagined the Maldives and inspired by the water and circular movements of the destination, Ritz Carlton Maldives is now what this imagination looks like.

The resort features 100 villas, either set on the beach or over water, designed to offer spacious stays that blur the line between the room and outdoor views with panoramic sliding doors, a sun-deck and a private pool. Seamlessly blending with the lush green and shades of blue, the calming palette of earthy tones set an elegant atmosphere.

“The masterplan is directly shaped by ocean forces, the wind and waves. The circular villas sit comfortably in the bright Maldives sunlight, shadows are soft, and breezes flow freely between buildings,” noted Kerry Hill Architects.
