The Story behind Visit Kinolhas, A New Platform for Rising Photographers

Kinolhas is an inhabited island in the Raa Atoll of Maldives, and its beauty is unknown to many people in and out of the country. With the aim of changing this, to serve his homeland with the great talent he’s been blessed with, photographer Mohamed Aleef has created the platform Visit Kinolhas.

Aleef, who first picked up the camera when he was 13 and since then has been amazing people with his stunning works, is the CEO and photographer of Leefphotos. Aleef has worked with International brands including Marina Bay in Singapore and Hideout in Bali. Specializing in weddings, lifestyle photography and videography, Aleef has a talent for innovative storytelling and capturing unforgettable moments.

As a freelance photographer, Aleef used to travel many local islands and resorts for photography projects. ‘I see lot of beautiful places throughout many Maldives islands & capture it show case it on my Instagram & other social media platforms. So each time when I visit my home island I do take photographs of beautiful places there and put it on social media platforms.’

One time, Aleef posted some pictures of Kinolhas on his Instagram @leefphotos, which went viral and the beach pictures of the island got featured on many travel pages and one international magazine as well. This was how the idea came to Aleef to create #VisitKinolhas and launch it on every social media platform.

#VisitKinolhas promotes Kinolhas as one of the emerging island in Raa atoll, where ppl can explore natural beauty and island living. The famous Ganduvaru beach picnic area was opened recently for locals, all nearby islands and resorts as well. This is one of the few places this stunning island has to offer.

It also opens doors for people who love taking photos and show the beauty of the island. Their photos will be featured soon on @visitkinolhas Instagram & Facebook page after giving credits. Aleef wants to make Kinolhas stand out from other islands by showcasing the beauty, sports, unity, social & economic activities throughout @visitkinolhas platforms.

But this isn’t the first time Aleef has initiated something for his home island. In 2018, he held the first event to bring everyone together to clean the island and ocean after he saw a disappointing amount of garbage in the beach & ocean, trapped in the reef and littering the beach. And since the first event, he has arranged several clean ups in the years.
