The Stunning Underwater Art Gallery in Maldives

In 2018, Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi had a grand opening with an underwater art installation by acclaimed artist Jason deCaires Taylor, the very first one in the country.

The Coralarium is the first and only coral regeneration project in the Maldives that comes in the form of an underwater art installation. The celebrated British environmentalist and eco-artist behind it took inspiration from the natural beauty of the coral reef to create artworks that raise awareness of the threatened ecosystem.

The resort’s guests can have close encounters with the marine species while swimming and snorkelling between the works of art with a marine biologist or on one of the specially curated evening snorkelling tours.

You can follow exploration of the Coralarium with a diving or snorkelling excursion, catching sight of dolphins on a sunset boat trip, planting your own coral, and creating marine-inspired artworks in the on-site art studio.
