The World’s Most Romantic Resort, Baros Maldives Sets Sail With A Unique “Nooma” Experience

Sunday 13th of November 2022

The intimate shores of Baros Maldives recently hoisted the title of ‘World’s Most Romantic Resort 2022’ at the World Travel Awards, a testimony to the romantic experiences at the private island resort. To celebrate the prestigious award, Baros Maldives is introducing an exclusive ‘Nooma’ experience, aboard the traditional Maldivian dhoni that will rekindle the passion and romance for all couples.

With three dedicated preferences to choose from, the Indian Ocean journey can be tailored to feature a Maldivian, Sri-Lankan or Indian theme and includes a soothing spa treatment and destination dining experience with delicacies hailing from the chosen country. Aboard Nooma guests can find an elegantly crafted curved prow, a single white sail, and an intricately thatched roof, embodying the skills of Maldivians.

Modelled after the traditional Dhoni, the crew on the boat will be dressed in sarongs, paying homage to the Maldivian culture. The interiors feature a secluded sun deck for two in the bow, a saloon lounge complemented by an air-conditioned double bedroom and toilet.

Cruise the waters of North Male’ Atoll and catch a vibrant sunset while sipping cocktails and savouring canapés. Once the sun dips below the horizon, professional therapists will be ready to indulge guests in a treatment of their choice.

Spa Essentials

Those opting for the Maldivian treatment will be delighted with a coconut scrub made with 100% natural ingredients including fine sand, pure, virgin coconut oil and coconut milk that will leave the skin smooth and glistening. By utilizing careful techniques, the massage will immerse guests in a state of deep blissful relaxation.

As for the Sri Lankan treatment, guests can enjoy a rejuvenating body wrap featuring velvety Monoi oil. Infusing the oil into the skin, the treatment promotes ultra-hydration and tailors the experience to guest preferences to relieve tension and revive the body and mind. The Indian route starts with an Abhyanga where herbal oils are used to stimulate the circulation of blood, lymph and prana (energy). Afterwards, Shirodhara takes place where a steady stream of oil is gently poured over the forehead to enhance clarity of mind.

After the relaxing session, Nooma is anchored in the Baros lagoon for a dinner under the stars with a 4-course menu. The Maldivian cuisine will start with traditional Maldivian Mezze followed by Garudhiya and a curry-tasting event with three choices before concluding with sumptuous Maldivian sweets. The Sri Lankan menu comprises fish cutlet, coconut Roti and Seeni Sambal as starters, followed by flavourful pumpkin soup, Ceylonese mustard prawn & chicken black curry, potato tempered, Brinjal Morju and coconut sambal as mains before closing with a Sri Lankan sweets sampler.

The Indian journey begins with Green Job Tikka, sea prawns, yoghurt and cream marinated, rich tomato Dhaniya Shorba broth and follows with traditional Indian lamb curry, Paneer Butter Masala and Black Dal. A Sweet Indian Dessert sampler dish will be served for dessert. Prepared using fresh ingredients, the gastronomical night will reignite the romance with good food and hearty conversations against the stunning backdrop of stars and blues.

"This new Nooma experience is the ultimate romantic adventure, where we invite our guests to escape to their destination of choice and spend a whole evening enjoying bespoke drinks, a tailored wellness treatment and local food among the unparalleled views. This is a must-have experience during full moon nights, where guests get to witness a natural phenomenon occurring just once a month,” comments Ibrahim Shijah, General Manager of Baros.
