The Group’s luxury resort in the Maldives, Grand Park Kodhipparu, in this regard, had a saucy update to share with us. Possibly topping all the ways one can celebrate our mother earth, the resort is launching its solar power system today. The photovoltaic panels are expected to produce 478,080 kilowatt-hour (kWh) of energy per annum which will save up to 150,000 liters of diesel fuel each year – reducing emission of large amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
In its continuous efforts to find ways to be more sustainable in their operations, Grand Park Kodhipparu has implemented several initiatives conserve and preserve the environment prior this such as producing their own drinking water, reduce plastics use on the island by eliminating the use of plastic straws and use only glass bottles, recycle water for watering the vegetation and planting a coral garden to revitalize the house reef. The resort also participates in ‘Room For Trees’, the Group’s sustainability initiative – whereby for every booking made on the hotel’s website, a tree is planted on behalf of the guest.
Moreover, the resort holds a Green Globe certification – the highest standard for sustainability worldwide secured for its sustainable management operations.
