The world’s largest seaplane operator, Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has announced the acquisition of a DHC-6 Twin Otter, totalling the number of aircraft in its fleet to 62. The latest addition to TMA’s fleet of DHC-6 Twin Otters is part of the company’s vision for growth and will support the increased tourism activity in the leading destination.
The tourism industry of the Maldives heavily relies on seaplane transfers with guests transported to remote resorts from the airport aboard the aircraft. TMA’s fleet expansion comes at a time when the airways is striving to meet the exponential growth observed in the tourism sector as seen from the increasing arrival numbers and new resort openings taking place at the destination. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, TMA has acquired more than 10 new clients with its exclusive clientele expected to flourish even more with the upcoming resort developments in the Maldives.
