Thursday 10th of March 2022

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between K. Kaashidhoo Council and a Turkish company, in order to develop the tourism of the island.

The island council's president, Mohamed Amir highlighted that as part of the agreement signed with Turkey’s BNG Insat A.I, the company will develop a 150-bed hotel at Kaashidhoo’s tourist village area.

12 hectares of land have been allocated for this hotel.

“Tourism at Kaashidhoo is at the beginning stage. The main economic activity on the island is agriculture. There are not many fisheries either. Therefore, the economy of the island will see a significant improvement with this,” he added.

With that being said. Amir noted that this will be a project that develops tourism in Kaashidhoo, which in turn will create many job opportunities for youths.
