Off the top of your mind, if you could go anywhere for a holiday, where would you go? For 143,599 people, the answer was Maldives!
In the month of August 2021, Maldives recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals so far in the year. This was an increase of 41% compared to the previous month of July 2021. Daily tourist arrivals also reached a new high of 4631, and it remained at over 3000 arrivals every day. The highest number of tourists that arrived on a single day topped at 6083 tourists.
Whilst Indians still remain the top source market to the Maldives, Russia stands firmly at the 2nd position. It is closely followed by European markets of Germany and Spain respectively. Not surprisingly, the Middle Eastern markets of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates are also contributing in the top ten, along with the upcoming market of South Africa.
Stakeholders of the Maldivian tourism industry are continuously contributing towards every stringent measure necessary at accommodation facilities, and across all touch points to ensure that the destination lives up to its title as a safe haven amid testing times. The biggest factor contributing to this is currently the ongoing nation-wide vaccination drive with focus on inoculating all staff in the tourism industry from those working at resorts, guesthouses, and vessels, to even staff of the aviation industry. Maldives is aiming to be among the first countries in the world to put forward a fully-vaccinated hospitality sector to its valued guests.
Authentic moments for the holiday of a lifetime can be found in every magical corner of the Maldives. When are you visiting?
