Travel to the Land of Sunrise Without the Hassle of Quarantine!

Travelers from the Maldives are now allowed entry into Japan without being subject to quarantine if they have completed three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Since January 14th, Maldives had been added to Japan's list of countries that were subject to tightened travel restrictions due to the spread of the Omicron variant.

Japan's Foreign Ministry website has released information stating that Maldives and Mexico have been removed from the aforementioned list as of 10th March 2022.

Travelers that have not completed three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine can still travel to Japan, however, they will be subject to three days of quarantine and voluntary testing.

The three-day quarantine will be extended to seven days if the traveler does not wish to get tested.

The ease in travel restrictions opens a door for a good market for the Maldivian tourism sector, according to Sri Lankan Airline's Country Manager for the Maldives, Fauzan Fareed.

His claim can be backed up by data prior to the pandemic, which shows that 44,251 tourists have visited the Maldives from Japan in 2019.
