The Maldives, made of 99% water, has been one of the most prominent locations for the world’s premier boat and yacht manufacturers, Gulf Craft.
This year, Gulf Craft is marking a promising two-decades of presence in the archipelago, contributing to a pivotal role in the development of the marine transport sector in the nation. It has a coverage of almost 80% in the industry, covering public transport, coast guard, emergency & ambulance services, resorts, and leisure boats.
Gulf Craft aims to build on its strong establishment and has plans to double its operation and production capacity in the Maldives within the upcoming months.
Development of a new production facility dedicated to the manufacturing of vessels fit for best-use in the Indian Ocean is currently underway. The state-of-the-art ‘Gulf Lagoon’ project was also announced last year, with the ambitious development spanning into a marina for seafarers and live-aboards, a maritime school offering captain/crew training for young Maldivians, and a resort, among others.
“The Maldives is our first international destination, where we have built in-country competencies by leveraging the opportunities that the country provides for the marine and tourism sector.” shares Chairman of Gulf Craft, Mohammed Hussein Alshaali, entrusting the mutually beneficial relationship to continue growing for many years to come.
