President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the government has plans to develop and upgrade the airport in Laamu atoll Kadhdhoo as an international airport.
"We are working on upgrading Kadhdhoo Airport as an international airport. This is a high priority project, and we hope to commence the project this year," said the President at a campaign workshop held in L. Gan.
13 airports are currently operated across the Maldives. There are 5 international airports: Velana International Airport in Male' region, Gan Airport in southernmost Addu City, ADh. Maamigili Airport, Hdh. Hanimaadhoo Airport and recently opened Maafaru Airport in Noonu atoll.
Opened in 1986, Kadhdhoo Airport Company limited was incorporated on 01st January 2012, as a limited liability company that’s hundred percent owned by the Government of Maldives
