On 24th February, Vanessa Bryant filed a wrongful death lawsuit on Monday against the helicopter company involved in the crash that killed her husband, 13-year-old daughter and seven others last month.
The lawsuit claims Zobayan, the pilot, was careless because he failed to properly monitor the weather before takeoff, decided to fly through foggy conditions in low visibility rather than end the flight and did not avoid obstacles in the flight path.
He received special approval from air traffic control at Burbank Airport to fly through the city’s airspace, but it was up to him whether or not to continue flying when he exited Burbank’s control zone.
The lawsuit was filed the same day as a public memorial service for Bryant and his daughter at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where he played for the Lakers during his entire 20-year career.
