Visit Maldives and Qatar Airways have formed a strategic collaboration to boost international tourism to the beautiful island paradise. Despite the various hurdles, the partnership brings together an airline and a destination that have been leaders in offering safe, reliable, and enjoyable travel experiences throughout the pandemic.
The two organizations will collaborate on marketing activities in several markets from around the globe to further grow international number of tourists to the Maldives. Maximizing the opportunities provided by Qatar Airways’ extensive global network of over 140 destinations.
Less than a year after being the first international airline to resume services to the Maldives in July 2020 with daily flights, Qatar Airways expanded operations to four daily flights, on July 1st, 2021. Passengers travelling to the Maldives can enjoy the airline’s renowned 5-star service on board a mix of the airline’s state-of-the-art Airbus A320 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
Highlighting the importance of Maldives to the Qatar network, Qatar Airways Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker states that this partnership with Visit Maldives is the next step in achieving long term objectives for both organizations. He looks forward to working closely with Visit Maldives and boost international tourism.
Following this, the Managing Director of Visit Maldives, Thoyyib Mohamed expressed his delightedness towards Qatar Airways for increasing their daily flights and remarked that this was an indication of continued trust and support to Maldives. He highlighted the previous support given by Qatar on the global marketing campaigns held by Visit Maldives in the past. Thoyyib also said that with the increment of the daily flights via Qatar, it will assure the travelers that Maldives is one of the safest destinations to travel during this time of the pandemic.
Expressing his gratitude and thankfulness, the Minister of Tourism Maldives, Dr.Abdulla Mausoom stated that Being amongst the top three passenger carriers to the Maldives, he appreciated the support and engagement of Qatar Airways in the Maldives tourism recovery.
