Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives) and Qatar Airways signs a Memorandum of Understanding in regards to increase air traffic to Maldives which will be a huge factor to the tourism sector of the country.
The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of MMPRC, Thoyyib Mohamed signed on behalf of the corporation and Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Airways, Thierry Antinori signed on behalf of the airline.
As per the MOU that was signed at the Qatar Stand of the on-going Arabian Travel Market 2022 at Dubai World Trade Center, both partners would launch joint promotional and marketing activities in key identified markets.
Launching collaborative B2B and B2C campaigns, organizing familiarization visits for travel partners and media influencers, and collaborating with trade partners are among the initiatives. The MOU further states that both parties will analyze and contribute to future plans in order to conduct initiatives in target markets to promote the Maldives as a vacation destination.
Thoyyib has previously discussed the importance of aviation in the tourism industry, particularly in the Maldives. Thoyyib stated that the tourist and aviation industries should work together to address obstacles during a panel discussion at the 9th Arab Aviation Summit in Dubai earlier this year. He also mentioned how crucial the Middle East is to the Maldives as a rising source market and a vital center for a huge number of tourists.
