Thursday 17th of July 2025

Brazilian surf star Jesse Mendes is the latest confirmed competitor for the 2025 Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy. Held at the renowned Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, the event welcomes six handpicked surfers to compete in a unique three-board format.

Mendes, a former Championship Tour contender and 2018 Triple Crown of Surfing winner, is known for his strong rail work and smooth style. At 31, he now focuses more on expressive surfing, often riding twin fins shaped by Album Surfboards. He shared his excitement about the upcoming event, especially the twin fin round, and said he’s working closely with shaper Matt Parker to prepare.

Recalling a story from fellow Brazilian surfer Adriano de Souza, Mendes described how quickly top surfers accept invitations to this exclusive event—highlighting its prestige within the surfing world.

The competition challenges surfers to ride single fin, twin fin, and thruster boards before a final where they choose their weapon of choice. With a mix of intensity and fun, and heats staggered by age, the contest is set against the Maldives’ famous waves and tropical scenery.

Mendes also looks forward to enjoying the luxury of Kuda Huraa with his wife, combining long surf sessions with world-class dining. The event offers guests a front-row seat to the action from luxury surf vessels anchored at the lineup.

With Craig Anderson also confirmed, more names, including three international invitees and a Maldivian wildcard, will be announced soon. The resort is also offering its Surf’s Up package, combining expert coaching, guided surf trips, spa treatments, yoga, and more—all set within the island’s five-star setting.
