Budapest’s New York Café – One of the oldest cafés in Budapest which will make you wonder whether you stepped into a lavish palace or a coffee house. Dating back to 125 years, the New York Café has lived through many eras, political systems and historical turning points. After the 2nd World War, the café fell into disrepair and it wasn’t until 2006 that it was restored to its original magnificence.
The menu includes multicultural cuisine of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. However, what many people come here for isn’t exactly the food, but the grandness of the place. It is built in Italian Renaissance-style with chandeliers dangling from high ceilings. The cafe is part of Hotel New York Palace, Budapest.
