Where Land, Sea and Art Collide - Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi

Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi is the perfect getaway from all the troubles of the world, as it boasts one of the largest resort lagoon and longest infinity pool in the Maldives, that leads to the Coralarium, which is Maldives first and only coral regeneration project in the form of a spectacular underwater art installation done by Jason deCaires Taylor.

The Coralarium is situated in the centre of the largest developed coral lagoon in the Maldives, and is a semi-submerged tidal gallery that interlinks the skyline, inter-tidal waterline and seabed. The main purpose of this fabulous sculpture is to let guests get connected with sea, sky and sand, in a place of preservations, conservation and education.

The Coralarium is the portal to witness abundant sea-life and pristine house reef surrounding this world-class resort. The structure of Coralarium and the sculptures within it acts as an artificial reef, encouraging local marine life to make it a home.

Jason deClaires Taylor, the founder of this incredible master-piece, who is also an environmentalist and professional underwater photographer, revolved this ingenious work to becoming an integral part of the local eco-system, created with non-toxic, marine-grade compounds, free from harmful pollutants.

The steel Coralarium structure, first installed in 2018, is now thriving with marine life, and gives the perfect opportunity for those adventurous guests eager to discover the underwater world. The design of the sculpture is designed specifically to intrigue the interests of a variety of fish and crustaceans. Each of the embedded sculpture is brought to life through its union with the life that attaches to it.

The resort is scheduled to reopen on 1st October 2020 with rigid health and safety measures instilled to ensure the wellbeing of its guests.
