With the start of a new connected route between Doha and Lusaka, Zambia, and Harare, Zimbabwe, Qatar Airways expanded its foothold in Southern Africa. The airline's state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900, which features 36 seats in the award-winning QSuite Business Class and 247 seats in Economy Class, was used to begin the new linked service.

When the airlines arrived in Lusaka via Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) and Harare at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport (HRE), it was greeted with traditional water cannon salutes. Customers can expect traditional on-board service from Qatar Airways' cosmopolitan cabin staff, which includes Zambian and Zimbabwean nationals, as well as generous baggage limits, which range from 46 kg split over two pieces in Economy Class to 64 kg split over two pieces in Business Class.

Businesses and traders will benefit from the airline cargo service, which will allow more than 30 tonnes of cargo capacity per week each way to support the two countries' exports of vegetables and flowers to destinations on Qatar Airways' network, including London, Frankfurt, and New York, as well as multiple points in China. Pharmaceuticals, automotive, and technology equipment will all be imported.

Throughout the pandemic, the airline has shown its unwavering commitment to Africa by considerably expanding its network by adding four routes and restarting services, bringing its total footprint to 27 destinations in 21 countries.

As passengers board Qatar Airways flights, they can rest certain that they are flying with the world's only airline that has received four 5-Star Skytrax ratings, together with its state-of-the-art global hub Hamad International Airport.
