During the closure of government amidst coronavirus pandemic, employees working for the public sector will be able to receive overtime pay and holiday allowance. In a press release by Ministry of Finance on 12th of April, the details of this policy were described. Employees with the following characteristics will be eligible for this:
1. To control the spread of the coronavirus, employees working without a break during the government closure period to provide the services required to the public.
2. During a period of heath emergency, employees that have been called for work to follow the guidelines by Director General of Public Health.
3. To provide a mandatory service, an employee called out for work by the highest position in that government office.
For the above stated employees, overtime pay will be provided for working additional hours other than the official working hours from 8am to 2pm. The employee will receive the pay after working for 6 overtime hours. Further, holiday allowances will be provided during national holidays and government holidays that are declared by the President.
