Exclusively for seafarers, the Mariner Lounge located in Qatar Airways’ hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha was opened to public in late 2020. Marking the International Maritime Organization’s “Day of the Seafarer”, Qatar Airways held a ceremonial opening event to launch this world’s first airport lounge for the exclusive use of seafarers and offshore workers.
The Mariner Lounge has recorded a whopping 50,000 and more visitors in less than seven months of opening its doors. This luxurious haven during the journey with Qatar Airways has provided eligible ship’s crews and those working in offshore industries top-notch comfort to relax in style and and experience exclusive benefits travelling with the airline. The modern facilities at the lounge in complement to the international selection of food and beverages, unlimited high-speed wi-fi, shower facilities, a television area, reading materials and a Business Centre cater to the needs of many.
Since April 2020, Qatar Airways played a key role in the repatriation of more than 380,000 seafarers and offshore workers. This includes crew change trips and around 100 charters carrying around 28,000 mariners.
