On December 18th, 2021, a very colorful and joyous celebration took place at Velana International Airport where Qatar Airways was celebrated for flying to Maldives for 20 years, marking the strong association with the airline since 2001.
Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) in collaboration with Qatar Airways Maldives, welcomed the day’s first Qatar Airline with a water salute and a traditional Boduberu performance along with a cake cutting gathering. The ceremony was graced by the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and the acting-in-charge of MACL, Ibrahim Thoha.
Despite the on-going global pandemic, Qatar Airlines was the first airline in the country to recommence their schedule, playing an important role in the passenger demands visiting Maldives.
Congratulating the airline for passing a milestone in the Maldivian portfolio, the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom highlighted the important role the airline had played over the years of their service to the Maldives. He further shared his hope in the airline for them to continue the ever-growing contributions to the country along with being a strong partner in the industry.
Moreover, highlighting the dedication the airline keeps showing towards Maldives, the acting-in-charge of MACL, Ibrahim Thoha also celebrated the airlines management for passing the 20th year of service to Maldives and shared his confidence for the airline.
