Royal Island has recently declared its festive programme 2025 2026 with the theme of Island Traditions, Festive Glow which promises guests a relaxing and atmospheric Christmas and New Year on its serene Maldivian beaches. Lighted paths, palm-lined landscape and a peaceful look at the lagoon also creates a cool atmosphere where the celebrations focus on family time and local atmosphere.
Days in the island are easy flowing with activities that have the Maldives as their inspiration. The younger visitors can participate in treasure hunts, craft activities and island type games, and adults and families can spend some time on palm-leaf weaving classes, pool parties and low-energy daytime entertainment. Nightlife is more relaxed as a social event, with live music, retro disco parties, white-themed, and basic beach parties which extend well into the night under the stars.
The Christmas festivities have classic highlights with a Maldivian twist to them. The programme will involve a beach side tree-lighting, cocktails and gala dinner on the Christmas Eve with a party that follows. Christmas Day celebrates the arrival of Santa at the water and presents a fashion and talent show of children. The New Years Eve also offers oceanfront cocktails, a dinner celebration and a countdown to a beach celebration. The season is then completed with Orthodox Christmas in early January with a dinner and DJ night.
True to the theme, the programme also throws a spotlight to the Maldivian culture with cooking classes, Boduberu performances, Haruge-style dining and customized personalized dining-in experiences.
Royal Island, which is in Baa Atoll and is close to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve also provides access to marine lives experiences, snorkelling, diving, dolphin tours and tranquil sandbank escapades. The spa rituals of Aaramu Spa are an added touch that helps the guests to start the new year fresh.
