The luxurious property of Alila Kothaifaru Maldives has been awarded the EarthCheck Design Silver Certification, reinstating its commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism. The design and development of Alila Kothaifaru Maldives was mindfully executed in line with EarthCheck’s BPDS standards and best practice performance benchmarks. Being a hallmark of the Alila brand as well, conscious and sustainable tourism values echoe across all Alila Hotels by bringing luxury spaces that coexist in harmony with the surrounding environment.
Given this, all hotels of the brand are created to accommodate innovative styles infused with a hint of opulence while still staying true to simplicity, sustainability and physical connections with nature and the environment. As a result, the brand prides itself in delivering understated and sophisticated spaces for guests to unwind and reflect, meanwhile preserving the exceptional natural beauty of its destinations.
Incepted in 2022, Alila Kothaifaru Maldives is nestled amid the tiffany-blue waters of Raa Atoll and consists of all-pool villas. The property’s iconic modern minimalistic architecture was designed by Singapore-based Studiogoto which capitalizes on the island’s flat topography to create an environment that feels completely at one with nature while conserving up to 70% of the natural vegetation.
Alila Kothaifaru’s landscape-oriented design epitomizes on intimacy and privacy and unfolds in terraced layers carefully integrated into the natural surroundings. All 80 beach and water villas are portrayed in this way, with low-rise pavilions and villas cascading gradually, creating the illusion of living in a garden while overlooking the turquoise waters. Beyond these ingenious design concepts, Alila Kothaifaru also mitigates its intrusion on the environment in other impactful ways including water conservation, recycling and waste management and offsetting carbon footprints.
CEO of EarthCheck, Stewart Moore remarked “Congratulations to Alila Kothaifaru Maldives on achieving EarthCheck Design Certification!
