All You Need to Know About the New Departure Tax in Maldives

Starting this year, all travelers departing the Maldives from all airports will be imposed to a Departure Tax. The newly amended regulations by the President now states that this tax will be based on the ticket class. Revisions were made to the Airport Development Fee as well. Combined, they are as follows:

Economy Class: Locals – USD 12 Foreigners – USD 30

Business Class: Locals and Foreigners – USD 120

First Class: Locals and Foreigners – USD 180

Private Jet: Locals and Foreigners – USD 240

Travellers who have diplomatic immunity and are under the age of 2 years old are relieved from paying this tax.
