Etihad Airways is expanding their quick self-service bag drop facilities at Abu Dhabi International Airport as travelers start flying for the summer vacations. The service allows for a quicker check-in process and can accommodate more guests, allowing them to bypass the lines. The self-service facilities enable travelers to seamlessly retrieve their booking, print the bag-tag, and process their bags in less than two minutes after they have checked in online.
“With the removal of many travel restrictions, Etihad is expecting the number of travelers to soar for the summer holidays. To make the airport experience seamless for our guests, Etihad is offering more self-service options at Abu Dhabi International Airport where they can skip the longer queues by first checking-in online and completing the extremely popular verified-to-fly process." Expressing his thoughts over the course is the VP Network, Airports & Cargo Operations, Etihad Airways, Mr John Wright.
For travelers flying to Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Oman, Switzerland, Turkey, and the UK, all travel restrictions related to COVID have been removed. The airline advises travelers to heed the following advice as it gets ready to welcome large numbers of passengers at Abu Dhabi International Airport between June 30 and July 15, 2022.
Travel Tips brought to you by Etihad
Get verified to fly and check-in online - Travelers should go to "Manage my booking" on etihad.com to upload their Covid travel documents for locations with travel restrictions. Passengers will feel confident that all necessary documents are in place because approval will be communicated via email. Passengers who have been approved can check in online, get their boarding card, and then use the self-service stations or fast-track 'Verified to Fly' desks at the airport.
Early check-in at Skypark - From June 30 through July 31, visitors can check in at the Skypark building between 24 and 4 hours prior to their flight. They will receive either free 2500 Etihad miles or an additional 5 kg of luggage in addition to complimentary 2 hours of Skypark parking. It will be accessible from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Arrive at the airport early - To complete the airport formalities, travelers should check in online and arrive early. Check-in opens four hours prior to departure and closes two hours prior to departure for US flights and one hour prior to departure for international flights during peak periods. All Etihad Airways departures have a 20-minute cutoff for boarding.
Use Home Check-in - Visitors can check in for their Etihad flight from the comfort of their home by visiting etihad.com/homecheckin up to seven hours before takeoff for more convenient travel options. As a result, travelers can check their bags, select a seat, and pick up their boarding pass and luggage tags from their Abu Dhabi residence. All non-transit travelers who used the home check-in service can skip the lines and enter the airport without checking bags once they arrive at Abu Dhabi International Airport. At the baggage claim area at the final destination, luggage must be picked up.
Check the flight timing and departure terminal - Due to the significant increase in passengers, Etihad Airways will move check-in for passengers flying in Economy on a few flights. Please refer to etihad.com or the Etihad application for the most recent information.
