Banyan Tree Holdings is celebrates 50th Earth Day with the launch of a commemorative book traversing the emotional architecture underpinning the world-leading independent, multi-branded hospitality group’s 25-year sustainability journey.
The book, ‘Rooted in Sustainability’, highlights not only the journey of Banyan Tree as a company, but also the realisation of a concept, which at first is unbeknown to its founders, Executive Chairman Ho Kwon Ping, Senior Vice President Claire Chiang and Senior Vice President Ho Kwon Cjan.
‘Rooted in our corporate ethos of “Embracing the Environment, Empowering People’, Banyan Tree’s sustainability approach emphasises on building in harmony with nature and contributing to the growth and development of the community where each of our hotels are planted.’ The brand has left marks of their sustainability practices around the globe.
Banyan Tree operates three resorts in Maldives: Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Angsana Ihuru in North Male Atoll, and Angsana Velavaru in Dhaalu atoll. Their Marine Lab in Maldives has been actively acclimatizing 600 corals for transplant in the restoration zone. To date, the team planted a test batch of corals near the jetty of the In-Ocean Villas and restoration zone. The corals are also closely monitored for future restoration efforts.
