Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru & Dhawa Ihuru Welcomes New General Manager – Hery Kuswoyo

Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru have announced the appointment of Hery Kuswoyo as its new General Manager. Hery is a well-seasoned, homegrown executive with 30 years of valuable experience in the luxury hospitality industry. In his new role, Hery will be responsible for heading the operations teams of both resort properties to elevate the delivery of exceptional service to guests while achieving the desired business targets and results.
Hery initially joined the Banyan Tree family in 2010 as the Executive Assistant Manager – Food & Beverage at Banyan Tree Bangkok. In the same year, he was assigned to Banyan Tree Macau for its pre-opening and has since then taken up various roles across several Banyan Tree branded properties. This includes posing as the Hotel Manager at Banyan Tree Phuket and Angsana Laguna Phuket in 2015 and serving as the Director – Regional Operations in Banyan Tree’s Corporate Office in Singapore in 2016, which he states is one of the highlights of his career.
In the latter appointment, Hery was tasked with responding to operational issues raised by General Managers and coordinating with them to find the most effective and efficient resolution to those problems. As a well- accomplished executive with diverse expertise in the global hospitality industry, his contributions were instrumental in ensuring that such issues were prevented before they happened.
Prior to joining the Banyan Tree Group, Hery gained extensive experience in a wide range of management roles during his appointments at luxury hotel brands such as Hyatt, JW Marriott, Four Seasons and The Ritz-Carlton in locations such as the US, Asia, and the Middle East. With an excellent track record for formulating and implementing organizational structures in pre-opening destination properties, Hery made a comeback in hotel operations again in 2020. He returned as the pre-opening General Manager of Homm Saranam Bali – one of the newest brands that were featured under the Banyan Tree Group.
Originally from Indonesia, Hery is always inspired and passionate about working with dynamic teams from multi-cultural backgrounds. As he takes on this new challenge and chapter of his career in the Maldives he enthused “Coming to the Maldives is like going home to Bali. In his leisure time, Hery occasionally swings his golf club and being a passionate fan of Harley Davidson loves big bike riding as well. Since his tenure started in the Maldives, he is also keen on starting a diving lesson soon too.
