Bid Closing Dates Pushed Back for Islands Allocated for Tourism Development

23 islands across various atolls, mainly in the northern and southern region of the Maldives, were put up for bids in April of this year. Interested local and foreign parties who are willing to invest in a tourism establishment development in any of the strategically selected uninhabited islands and/or plot of land in uninhabited islands can submit their bids now by 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021.
Bid documents can be purchased until June 20, 2021 from the 5th Floor, Ministry of Tourism, Velanage.
The pushing back of the due date was decided based on the affects of the current ongoing global pandemic on the investors market. Considering the fact that a number of travel restrictions and border closures are imposed in various key markets around the world alongside other challenges, the extension aims to further ease the facilitations for interested parties to submit their proposals on time. A few weeks earlier, the Ministry had also revised the land acquisition fee of the islands due to the same reasons.
The islands open for bids with the revised acquisition fees are as follows:
- Velifinolhu in Haa Alif Atoll – 420,000
- Alidhuffaru Finolhu in Haa Alif Atoll – 350,000
- Kuda Faru Fasgan’du in Haa Dhaal Atoll –210,000
- Seedheehuraa in Meemu Atoll along with the Seedheehuraa Veligan’du - 875,000
-- Maausfushi in Meemu Atoll – 1,575,000
- Kaaddoo in Thaa Atoll – 700,000
- 10 hectares from the Northern part of Kanimeedhoo in Thaa Atoll – 1,050,000
- Olhufushi in Thaa Atoll along with Olhufushi Finolhu – 700,000
- Kashidhoo in Laamu Atoll – 700,000
- Bodu Munyafushi in Laamu Atoll – 700,000
- Dhonberahaa in Laamu Atoll along with Holhurahaa – 525,000
- Maarehaa in Gaaf Alif Atoll – 1,400,000
- Funadhoo Viligillaa in Gaaf Alif Atoll – 700,000
- Kandahalagalaa in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll – 875,000
- Kadevaarehaa with Dhigurehaa in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll – 700,000
- Fereytha Viligilla as a cluster in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll along with Dhekaanbaa, Koderataa, and Island on coordinate number 0'22',72.86"N 73"7'28.98"E – 700,000
