British Airways, the flagship carrier airline of the United Kingdom has announced that they will be re-commencing scheduled flights to the Maldives this October. With the peak season starting soon, demand for travel is expected to soar while the British market remains one of the top source markets for the Maldives this year.
From 14th October onwards, British Airways will operate four scheduled flights to Velana International Airport (VIA) and will host daily flights starting from 30th October 2022. Boeing 777 commercial aircrafts will be used for the operations.
British Airways have been flying to the Maldives since 2015. As of 19th September, Maldives welcomed 1,141,122 tourists to the country with the British market contributing an approximate of 11% of the total market share.
