Calling Local Sea Turtles Lovers! Internship Opportunity at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu

The really cute sea turtles of Maldives are looking at you with their beady eyes, pleading to be rescued! Want to be a superhero in their eyes? The Olive Ridley project partnered with Coco Collection offers the perfect opportunity for all sea-turtle lovers who are willing to take up the challenge to conserve these divine species.

The Olive Ridley Project is currently looking for an enthusiastic Maldivian-national only intern to assist in running its Marine Turtle Rescue Centre at Coco Palm, Dhuni Kolhu. This is a paid internship position available to start immediately for a period of 3 months.

Internship description:

• Gain knowledge and experience of sea turtle care and husbandry and wider field of ocean conservation

• - Experience and learn about veterinary medicine and surgery

• - Assist vet with treating turtle patients, including X-raying, Ultrasound and surgery

• - Assist with running the centre including feeding turtles, tank cleaning, rescues and releases

• - Help to educate guests visiting the centre and with local projects

The ideal candidate that Olive Ridley Project is looking for is a Maldivian national above 18 years of age who shows enthusiasm and active participation in marine conservation and sea turtles, with good communication skills. No previous experience with sea turtles is required.

Coco Collection announced its first affiliation and collaboration with Olive Ridley Project back in 2015. The Olive Ridley Project was set up by a group of Marine biologists situated within the Maldives working towards preventing the entanglement of Olive Ridley sea turtles and other marine organisms.
