Celebrate Easter with Chef Yuko Furuya’s Japanese Culinary Masterpieces at COMO Maalifushi

Monday 14th of April 2025

COMO Maalifushi, the only resort in the untouched Thaa Atoll, is set to welcome Japanese Chef Yuko Furuya for an exclusive Easter culinary residency from April 19th to 22nd, 2025. Known for her refined take on traditional Japanese cuisine, Chef Yuko will lead a series of immersive food experiences that combine technique, flavour, and stunning island views.

The experience begins with Japanese Culinary Masterclasses on April 20th and 22nd, where guests can learn hands-on techniques from the certified fugu (puffer fish) chef. Each session ends with a special lunch, starting at US$100 per guest.

On April 21st, guests are invited to enjoy A Taste of Japan, a relaxed à la carte lunch menu showcasing classic Japanese dishes with a modern edge. The meal will be served in one of COMO Maalifushi’s scenic dining locations, offering a sensory journey through Japan’s culinary heritage.

The highlight of Chef Yuko’s visit is Omakase by the Ocean, held on April 22nd at the overwater Tai Restaurant. This intimate, multi-course dinner offers a personal journey through Japanese flavours, curated by the chef herself. Pricing is available on request.

“Her approach to Japanese cuisine mirrors COMO’s values—fresh, seasonal, and deeply rooted in place,” says Peter Nilsson, Managing Director of COMO Hotels and Resorts, Maldives.

Chef Yuko, who runs her private dining restaurant Kenrantei in Kobe, comes from a family of chefs and is known for her precise techniques and creative flair. This Easter celebration marks a unique opportunity to savour her talent in one of the Maldives' most serene settings.
