Having a wealth of geographical and natural attraction puts Maldives in great peril when it comes to global warming and climate change. As one of the lowest-lying countries in the world, the growing threat of extinction looms over our head as sea levels continue to rise at alarming rate. With these pressing environmental concerns, the Maldivian tourism industry has strived to create and promote sustainable practices in an effort to safeguard our future. Many resorts have followed in the course, including the luxury hospitality brand, Coco Collection.
At the Coco properties in Maldives, everything from construction to operation has been implemented with a strong emphasis given on sustainability. Take a glimpse into the sustainability world created by Coco Collection.
The Coco properties are home to their very own herb gardens where fresh produce is cultivated in an organic and home-grown manner. Everything from fruits and vegetables to herbs are obtained in this way, ensuring all foods are natural and fresh while reducing their impact of food miles.
Coco Dreams Green
As per their pledge to decrease single-use plastic on all their properties, the Coco Dreams Green was established. Through the initiative the group aspires to bring their single-use plastic to zero across all their properties. To do this, an on-site drinkable water production and glass bottling plant has been introduced in their property, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu. An in-glass bottling system will be found in their other property, Coco Bodu Hithi.
Drifting Back To Nature
Natural materials are replacing plastic is many areas of the resorts including straws. Paper straws are now in use at all the outlets of the properties. In addition to this, in-villa amenities have also been switched to natural materials like wooden toothbrushes and cotton buds made without plastic.
