Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has established a centre at Velana International Airport. This center will be responsible for all the activities in motion to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. It was established after analyzing the current situation at the airport, says MACL.
MACL has also commenced temperature screening at Velana International Airport’s departure entrance for all airport pass holders on 18th March 2020. The company previously arranged a paid leave for all staff above 55 years of age and those with flu symptoms as part of the effort to protect working individuals at the airport from the risk of COVID-19. The leave is also available for pregnant staff as well as others, who are medically at high risk.
The travel advisory regarding COVID19 on 21st March states that passengers and crews from Mainland China, Iran, regions of South Korea, Italy, Bangladesh, Spain, regions of France, regions of Germany, Malaysia, United Kingdom and Sri Lanka will not be allowed to enter or transit within the last 14 days.
