As of 19th April so far, there have been a total 16 cases of local transmission in Male’ City. The first case was tested positive on 15th April. The confirmed case, named Case 21, was followed by the first lockdown of the country for 24 hours, which has been extended to 14 days.

Samples taken from a Bangladesh national via a flu clinic has tested POSITIVE for COVID19. This is the 16th person to become positive for COVID-19 in Male’ City. The person will be transferred to an Isolation Facility. HPA is establishing any links with the current cases.
18th April, 2020
7 cases were confirmed by Health Protection Agency. The first 2 cases were direct contacts of Case 27. The next case was a direct contact of Case 28 and Case 32 was a Bangladeshi national. The latest updates by HPA reveals that there are total 35 confirmed cases in Maldives, 19 locals and 16 foreigners. There has been 16 recoveries, making it 17 active cases.
17th April, 2020
8 cases were reported by Health Protection Agency. The first three cases were direct contacts of Case 23, the relative of the first patient. Case 24 was her husband while Case 25 was her teenage child and Case 26 was her colleague. The same day, two more cases (Case 27 and 28) were tested positive and both cases reported by HPA did not have direct contact with another patient. This called for urgent contact tracing and the country goes into a 14 day complete lockdown.
16th April, 2020
The second and third case were tested positive. The patients were direct contacts of the Case 21. Case 22 was the toddler of the first patient and Case 23 was a relative. On that day, the government announced extension of the lockdown for 24 more hours. Then, there were total 23 cases, 16 recoveries and 985 in quarantine.
